April 10, 2018 - General Municipal Election

 

ELECTION RESULTS: Final Canvassing of the Votes (Official)

On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, the City of Vernon will hold an all-mail ballot general municipal election for:

The election of one member of the City Council for the full term of five (5) years and the following measure:

Measure RShall an ordinance be adopted to authorize the levy of a 6% utility users’ tax on electricity, gas, telecommunications, video and water utility services for commercial/industrial customers, with exemptions for residential services, raising a total annual amount of $11.9 million for a duration of 10 years after the effective date?

The nomination period begins December 18, 2017 and ends January 16, 2018.

On November 7, 2017, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2017-59 calling for the general election.

On December 5, 2017, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2017-65 adding Measure R to the general election.

February 6, 2018, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2018-003 making technical updates to Ballot Language for Measure R.

April 11, 2017 - General Municipal Election

 

 

On Tuesday, April 11, 2017, the City of Vernon held an all-mail ballot general municipal election for the election of one member of the City Council for the full term of five (5) years and one measure, Measure Q

 

On April 19, 2016, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2016-17 declaring the election results.  Leticia Lopez was elected to the City Council by the voters.

April 12, 2016 - General Municipal Election

 

On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, the City of Vernon held an all-mail ballot general municipal election for the election of one member of the City Council for the full term of five (5) years.

On April 19, 2016, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2016-17 declaring the election results.  Leticia Lopez was elected to the City Council by the voters.

February 17, 2015 - Special Municipal Election

 

On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, the City of Vernon held an all-mail ballot special municipal election for the election of one member to the City Council to fill an unexpired term ending on April 2017.

On March 3, 2015, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2015-09 declaring the election results.  Melissa Ybarra was elected to the City Council. 

April 14, 2015 - General Municipal Election

 

On Tuesday, April 14, 2015, the City of Vernon held an all-mail ballot general municipal election for the election of one member of the City Council for the full term of five (5) years, and consideration of the following Measures:

Measure O:

Shall Chapter 3.7 of Article III of the Vernon City Charter be amended to clarify that the candidate(s) with the next subsequent highest number of votes in an election with multiple seats, shall be elected to fill the unexpired term or terms after all full terms of office are filled by candidate(s) who have received a higher number of votes?

Measure P:

Shall Chapter 7.4 of Article VII of the Vernon City Charter be amended to allow the City Council to fix the duties, tenure and compensation of officers by any means it deems appropriate?

On April 21, 2015, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2015-19 declaring the election results.  Yvette Woodruff-Perez was elected to the City Council; Measure O and Measure P were approved by the voters.
