Our Mission

The City of Vernon Light & Power Department is a publicly-owned electric and gas utility that is committed to adding value to Vernon’s business community by being the energy and gas provider of choice for businesses throughout the City.  The Light & Power Department’s foremost priority is to provide low cost, high quality electric and gas services to our customers.

The Light & Power Department has provided its business community with reliable electric service at favorable energy rates for over half a century.  In November 2006, the City completed construction on our gas distribution system, which can accommodate delivery pressures up to 300 psig to Vernon businesses.  The staff of the Light & Power Department is committed to finding innovative ways to increase system performance and to improve customer satisfaction, while maintaining the City’s position as a low cost energy provider in California.
