Services

The City of Vernon Health and Environmental Control Department implements a variety of programs for the commercial and industrial community. The following is a brief overview of some of the services provided by the department.

Animal Control
The department contracts with SEAACA (Southeast Area Animal Control Agency), an outside agency, to provide animal control services. In the event that a stray animal has been contained on a private property or a dead animal is identified at any location within the City, businesses can call the Health Department for removal of the animal. The Health Department also provides small animal traps for businesses attempting to contain stray animals.

Free Sale Letters
The department provides free sale letters to Vernon companies selling food products outside the country.

Plan Check

As part of the building permit process and at no additional cost, the department provides plan check services for new construction and upgrades to regulated facilities. Plan check services insure compliance with the latest health codes as companies make improvements to buildings and properties.

Recycling Information
The Health Department is a resource for information to assist businesses in reducing the generation of solid waste, and improving the recycling of waste materials. On-site waste analysis and recycling guidance is available by contacting the Department. In addition, educational pamphlets and written materials can be provided.
Storm Water Information
Educational materials and consultation are available to companies.
