Above Ground Storage Tanks
In 2008 the Vernon Health Department was given authority to implement, enforce and administer the Above ground Petroleum Storage Act (APSA) within the city. This act requires owners and operators of facilities that store petroleum products above ground in volumes greater than 1,320 gallons to complete a Spill Prevention Countermeasure Control (SPCC) plan and maintain the document on site. The Vernon Health Department will review the SPCC plan, which lays out how a facility plans to address a petroleum product release. The Department confirms compliance with the APSA during Certified Unified Program hazardous material inspections.
