

The City Attorney's Office provides legal services for Vernon’s City Council, City officials and departments in the conduct of City business.The office handles and supervises the City’s legal needs including land use, public works construction, municipal finance, contracts and redevelopment, among other areas.
City Attorney Laurence S. Wiener brings over 20 years of experience in local government and land use law, including serving as the City Attorney of the Cities of Beverly Hills, Westlake Village and Hidden Hills. He is also General Counsel to the Las Virgenes Malibu Council of Governments and Authority Counsel to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority. Wiener has worked with City Councils, Planning Commissions, and Redevelopment Agencies throughout the State of California, and formerly served as President of the City Attorneys Association of Los Angeles County. He is also a former Chairman of the editorial board of the League of California Cities "Municipal Law Handbook."Wiener is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles’ School of Law and a recipient of the prestigious Order of the Coif.
