Metro Link Union Station Project
Metro's Link Union Station (Link US) Project may have an impact on Vernon. Below, find out how you may learn more about the details of the project, and how you may provide your feedback on Metro's proposed plan.
On September 18, 2020, a Revised Notice of Intent (NOI) for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Link US Project was published. Since the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) published the original NOI in 2016, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) and Metro have identified new off-site adjustments to the BNSF Malabar Yard in the City of Vernon. Because of the loss of storage track capacity anticipated by BNSF at their yard in proximity to Union Station, Metro is proposing the Malabar Yard as a site to restore storage track capacity for BNSF. The intent of the Revised NOI is to solicit additional public and agency input into the development of the scope of the Link US Project EIS with respect to the BNSF Malabar Yard adjustments proposed in the City of Vernon.
